CLOUTSTOUT2

Clout Stout brewed for the beer connoisseur

Clout Stout is a Russian Imperial Stout brewed for the beer connoisseur with the patience to age his/her beer. Poured from the bottle it is black and thick, initially sweet and full bodied before developing into a smooth, bittersweet finish. 10.6% ABV gives Clout Stout huge complexity and depth - each sip warms and hypnotizes the drinker.

Serving Clout Stout:

Best served at cool cellar temperature (12C) or refrigerated then allowed to warm for 20-30 minutes before pouring. Serve in your best stemmed glassware, such as a Belgian chalice or an oversized wine glass. Pour without tilting glass to produce a modest head. Sip and savour with 2 or 3 close friends.

Brewing Information:

A super charged Nail Stout, brewed with extra everything. Six different malts (including pale, oatmeal, crystal, black, chocolate and roasted barley) fill the mash tun twice over resulting in a single kettle boil. Only the first runnings are used to provide the most intense concentration of flavour. Infact the discarded second runnings would have produced an 8% ABV beer - 25% stronger than Nail Stout. Per litre, Clout Stout uses six times more malt than Nail Stout.

Bottled on March 22nd , 2010.

Nail Stout won the 2008 Cryer Malt Perth Royal Beer Show best WA beer and 2008 Sydney Royal Beer Competition best stout. Nail Stout is a oatmeal stout with 6% alcohol. Originally when brewed in 2002 it was nitrogenated (poured through a creamer). Its alcohol content was reduced from 6% to 5.2% in 2003 before returning to the original 6%. Nail Stout is now keg conditioned like all nail beers. The dark malts provide a coffee chocolate sweetness on the front of the palette, which is balanced with Golding’s hop bitterness on the back of the mouth. Rolled oats provide a smooth medium body. The flavour changes down the glass.

Nail Ale is a moderately carbonated, secondary fermented Australian Pale Ale. The golden copper colour is achieved with a careful balance of pale and speciality malts and the light floral hop flavours with the use of Australia’s Pride of Ringwood bittering hops and late addition aroma hops.  A slight sweetness on the palate is well balanced with medium initial bitterness and a lingering after-bitter.  More subtle than it’s sometimes “over hopped” American cousins, this Aussie Pale Ale is a designed  session craft beer, to be enjoyed with your favourite BBQ dish. Common taste descriptors of lemon, lime, citrus or stone fruit are the result of a carefully controlled fermentation using a traditional ale yeast. This is an easy drinking, champion Australian Pale Ale made with all natural ingredients that deserves your attention.

4.7% alcohol true premium beer. Nail Ale was born in Australia and has been developed in the Australian market.

Nail beers are brewed with no shortcuts for discerning drinkers wanting a quality beer. Nail uses no chemicals or  preservatives and is not pasteurised. All Nail beers are bottled/kegged conditioned so contain yeast. This means that Nail beers can be kept at room temperature and still age with character. Darker and higher alcohol conditioned beers age best. Therefore Nail Ale and Nail Stout are best drunk upon purchase but Nail Stout gets a nice port like or Christmas cake flavour around two years. Clout Stout is predicted to age well even longer (its designed to age).
